Ficlets

Still Grounded

I walked upstairs quickly, with my mother right on my tail.
“Do you know what time it it?” she asked me as I climbed into bed.
“No mom, I don’t,”.
“It’s 10:15, you should of been sleeping right now!”
“Sorry,” I mumbled, stuffing my face under my pillow.
“Well, your grounded. Right after school, your to come home. No play dates, no after school clubs, no nothing,”.
“Does that include-,”. My mother cut me right off.
“Yes that includes the computer, now go to sleep,”. My mother left in a huff and tried to close my door quietly, but it slammed shut. I sighed. She was an overly parental…parent.

I closed me eyes and tried to go to sleep. Just the thought of not being able to go on ficlets gave me a stomach ache. Suddenly my door swung open.
“Did I forget to say I love you?” My mother left my door open and kissed me on my forehead.
“No matter what, I’ll always love you,” she said with a smile.
“Does that mean I’m not grounded anymore?”
“Not happening,”. My mother left and I closed my eyes once again.
