I have been an atheist since I was 9 years old when I finally realized that belief in god, any god, was not a matter of course, but one of choice. While I do have a vague understanding of why a majority of the world’s population wants to have a belief in the existence of one deity or another, I have a hard time with the scams of organized religions that need exorbitant amounts of money as well as those others who profit from spirituality.

It had become a tradition of a couple friends and I to vacation on the Jersey shore every summer. My buddies would always try to get me to go in Ms. See’s Psychic Advisor shop, this little smoke filled storefront on the boardwalk next door to an even less appealing massage parlor. I had always declined.

This past summer, after too many martinis’ I reluctantly gave in. However I did insist that they were going to pay this scam artist. She asked me some questions and consulted some tarot cards, and I almost fell out of my chair when she said…
