Are you a Human or an Ant?(Then again, what's the difference?)

“Maybe the ants are just biding their time…you know, there are squillions of them, they could take over the world easily if they wanted to. You can’t shoot an ant.”
I laugh at his words…he and his crackpot theories…
Yet it gets me thinking about the ants. My mind wanders to a documentary I once saw about slavemaker ants. Big ants that need little ones to do their work for them, so they raid other colonies for their pupae, which they raise as slaves. Other than that, I think, and competition for food, ants don’t really interact much. They have a queen, who runs things until another ant comes and challenges her.

No, ants wouldn’t band together.

Then I think how very like the ants we humans are. We section ourselves off into cities, countries, races, faiths…”us” and “them”. We interact when it concerns “us”. I think of all the things we could do if we worked together, all of us. Cure cancer, stop Global Warming…
Are we just “biding our time”?

Me and my crackpot theories.
