Super-Goner, part 5

As I walked into the room, the door shut tightly behind me.

My father immediately took a seat in front of a wall length panel and started pushing buttons.

“You are in big trouble, young lady.” He began, still fiddling with the electronic maze in front of him. “I’d expect this kind of behavior from a child, but you’re a grown woman. These pleas for attention are NOT acceptable.”

“Pleas for attention? Do you not get it? I was just FLOATING . I didn’t even make it down to the 39th floor!” I shouted.

“And that’s another thing. You need to work on your balance. I’ve never seen such a pathetic levitation in my life. Didn’t your mother teach you how to fly?”

“What are you talking about? Mom doesn’t know how to fly!”

Ignorning me, my father bellowed. “Clarissa!” the computerized voice answered “Yes?”
“Connect me with Roberta- don’t take no for an answer.”
