Her heart was burning as she carefully lifted her eyes to meet his. She hoped it was not obvious to him that she was desperately searching for a reply—something meaningful that would finally reveal to him how much she adored him. At last, she resigned to a coquettish, “No.”

He grinned at her innocently. “I’m sorry if I made you nervous. I just thought you looked really great tonight.”

“Thank you.” She gazed out the window for a moment, and suddenly realized the car was coming to a stop. When she turned back to him he was taking her hands and pulling her close to him.
