Ficlets

Love (and Thunderstorms) at First Sight

It was an overall boring day. Thor had already done all the thundering he could, his hammer resting on the cloud next to him. Scaring Humans just didn’t have the same effect it used to, the same pizzaz.

Am I going through a mid-life crisis? Thor wondered. Do immortals even have mid-life crises?

He rolled over on his cloud to observe the world below. To his left. . .pastures. Cows. To his right. . .more cows. Did this world ever change?!? Suddenly, he saw a movement in between. Now that’s not a cow, he thought, looking at the woman fifty thousand feet below him. Her eyes sparkled, her perfect hair flew in the autumn wind. She was perfectly astounding.

He longed for her. He lusted for her. He got into such a frenzy that he set off a thunderstorm that blew her house into pieces. Well that might not go over well, he thought, but I’m sure she’ll understand.
