Be Nice to Vicky

I had no idea that when I gave Vicky the flowers she would react so strangely.
I mean, it took me the rest of the day to clean up the mess.
She’s a great gal, she really is. And smart! But, if she’s going to act like that every time I do something nice for her, I’m not sure if we should continue working together.
Looking back, I probably should have known. Last week, I held the door for her. She got this slack smile, and her eyes rolled back. Her arms started jerking around like crazy, and she backhanded my glasses across the lobby.
I didn’t connect everything at the time. I thought maybe she was having a seizure or something. I didn’t want to embarrass her, so I acted like nothing happened.
But after yesterday, I started to notice a pattern.
I decided I would try one more thing to confirm my suspicions. Vicky survives on Soy Chai Lattes, so I grabbed one on the way to work.
With my most charming smile I said, “Good morning, Vicky. That’s a pretty dress you’re wearing. Here, I brought you a Chai.”
