As if We Were Lovers.

His hand dropped noiselessly back to his side. I forgot about where I was, what was going on around me, and focused only on him. His gaze was held, straight into my soul while my own hand raised slowly and timidly. I reached out, but when my long crooked fingers were centimeters from his face, I trembled. He however, leaned forward just slightly, but enough so that now my whole hand was pressed against his face, as if we were lovers. I could feel the shock not only in my expression, but in every bone in my body as I stepped back and dropped my hand. He didn’t smile, didn’t talk, didn’t anything… just turned towards the street and leaned back against the wall to watch the people in front of us walk. I had enough sense to turn around and quicken my pace towards a coffee shop I knew to be near by. I was deep into thought. So deep, I didn’t even notice that my hand, the one that had collided with him, was ice cold- even through my mittens.
