Intangible

With the car coming at him faster than a shot from a canon, and the driver paying more attention to tuning the radio than what was on the road, there was no way Nick would get out of the way in time. He had never tried a move like this before, but it was worth a shot.

He phased, becoming intangible to the reality around him. When the car passed through him he rematerialized in the back seat, which worked only as a stroke of luck. The driver was still fumbling with the radio, switching from one station on commercial to another.

“Pay attention to the road, asshole,â€? he said from the back seat before phasing out the back of the car.

The driver swerved a little and then slowed to a more reasonable speed. Nick watched it go and then remembered his mission. He was four blocks away from the federal building, and too much phasing before he reached his objective would leave him drained and useless. In minutes he was there before the looming brick and mortar structure.

“Ok J-Man I’m here,â€? he said into his radio.
