Come What May, Pt. 48

We step back so that we’re under the canopy of the tree. I lean back against the trunk of the tree. Oliver stands there in front of me. He is probably less than a foot away. I look at him, and he stares back at me. “Dreamâ€?, he says, “what’s worse: to do something that might be wrong, yet you already know that it will feel so right, or to do something right, even though you know it’ll feel so wrong, and you’ll really end up regretting not doing it?â€? I am silent for a moment. I think I know exactly what he is saying. “Well Oliverâ€? I say, swallowing hard, “I think that if something feels totally right, then how wrong can it truly be?â€?

Oliver takes a step forward, sealing in the space that separates us. His beautiful slightly parted lips are only a few inches from mine. I can feel his warm breath on my lips. He leans in and kisses me. I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him even closer. Our kiss deepens, and he pulls me from against the tree and wraps his arms around my waist and holds me tightly.
