Blind, Part One

Before, and even now, it was pitch black. Plunged into darkness without warning. Quite an alarming experience, really. Not the kind I’d want to experience again, although I have no doubt in my mind that I will.

Then something occurred to me while I was walking in the kitchen. I was simply going to put the lighter we had used to light some candles back into its drawer, when I realized I couldn’t see inside the drawer. Now, to you, this may seem a simple realization. Not being able to see in the dark is one of the basic rules of life. I suppose I have become accustomed to the light; spoiled by it. I decided that since the lighter was still very hot at its end that it wasn’t safe to put it back into the drawer.

I turned around, only to realize that I couldn’t see at all anymore. I then remembered that I had blown out the candles because I was going into the other room. Probably not the best of ideas, I thought to myself. Oh well, too late now.
