Remembrances

Through the trees, Kat could see the sun beginning to set, leaving behind cotton candy clouds striped with fluffy pinks, burning bright oranges, and a dark purple with a hint of blue. I should go inside, said one part of her brain. No, said the larger part, stay outside in the beauty while you can. God knows what tomorrow may bring, and beauty like this doesn’t last forever. But Kat already knew what tomorrow would bring. Another day, exactly the same as this one.
She was already older than many girls were when they were married, mothers even. However, she’s never even been courted. Men didn’t admire her, especially in comparison to her older sister, Laura. She sat alone whenever men came to visit, for they all flocked to Laura. But I know I’m not ugly…if I was…well, if I was, Stephan never would have…well, there’s no point in remembering. But, still, it was hard to forget the feeling of him leaning against her…the feeling of his hands…his lips…
