Last Shift, Part 5.

“Hey, Brian,â€? she giggled. Brian was someone in her grade. She didn’t giggle because she liked him though. He made her nervous. He was always quiet and concentrated. Hardly ever talked. He could be creepy. But she didn’t dislike him, either. She said ‘hi’ if they ever saw each other outside of school…but the right word for it would be indifference, she supposed.
Besides, he got his scare out of her. He’ll be happy now and do what he really came to do, she thought. He took off his sunglasses and put them in his large zip pocket, his hand lingering there for a moment.
“Hello,â€? he said pleasantly. “Sorry if I scared you. I couldn’t resist.â€?
Sarah forced a laugh and replied, “Oh, it’s ok,â€? she smiled. “What’s up?â€? she found herself taking a step back, because he was staring at her so intently.
