Apology NOT Accepted, part 3

We spill our hearts to each other, Michaela and I, as we amble through the crisp, cold neighborhood. I hadn’t realized how wrong I was to get so angry, or that I’d missed my best friend so much.
She tells me that she didn’t mean to let Gemma know about Drew, that she felt just awful when she knew what Gemma had done, and how I will always be her best friend.
I tell her I was stupid for blowing up at her, that I’ll get Gemma for what she did, and how Michaela will always be my best friend.
We laugh. We cry. We hug. We skip, and nearly fall as we skid across some pre-winter ice. Then we laugh some more.
We giggle about how stupid some people are, the people who judge you for what you look like and not for the substance behind your exterior. We vow never to become those people.
Michaela and I hug again, and set back down the street. I am caught in the sentiment of the moment. We link arms, the fight forgotten, the wind at our backs, and a lasting friendship forever more.
