Ficlets

Asked and Unanswered

Keith stared the man down, “What do you want me to do about it?”
“Oh, I think you know,” came his wry response.
“No, I don’t think I do,” Keith answered, folding his arms across his chest.
“I think you do.”
“Pretty sure I don’t.”
“Come now,” the man said with a sigh as he leaned on the door frame, “This is no time to be shy about your gifts.”
Keith started scanning the room for hidden cameras, “Well, I did get this life-size lightsaber replica for my birthday, but…”
“Really, I must insist. We don’t have time for this and neither does Dr. Brightheart.”
“Dr. Who?” Keith asked leaning forward.
“No, these are cloned dinosaurs from hybrid DNA . Time travel has nothing to do with it.” Keith rolled his eyes and leaned back in his chair again.
“Alright so who’s on first?”
“What?”
“Wrong answer. What’s on second.”
“I don’t know what sort of game…”
“Wrong again. He’s on third.”
The messenger threw up his hands, “I can’t believe your Aunt Becca sent me to get you.”
“I don’t have an Aunt Becca.”
