Standoff

Her eyes burned red as she stared at her “brother”. “Damien, rules aren’t everything.” Bijoti’s chin remained high.
“And what have you to say, pooch?” Damien sneered. Carmen struggled to control his emotions. Phasing would mean definite blood.
“I… agree. You aren’t afraid, are you?” Carmen’s top lip eased into a mocking smile. “Bijoti, I’ll see you later.”
“No, you won’t.” Growled another voice. Carmen cursed.
“Wilhem. Not you, too.” His voice has an irritated edge.
“Of course, ‘me, too’. I have to jump on the bandwagon, here.” Wilhem answered sarcastically. “You know the rules. The rules were made to prevent a war.”
“I’m game, mongrel.” Damien twisted his body and prepared for an attack.
“Everyone just shut the hell up!” Bijoti screamed. “I promise I won’t talk to him, again. Just forget it.” She smiled apologetically at Carmen as she crossed her fingers behind her back.
