Rendez-vous

Winnie glared at Angelo, or rather Das Meer. “Tell me where he is,” she demanded for the umpteenth time. Her chains felt heavier by the minute.

You tell me.” Das Meer responded in a detatched voice.

“You mean you really don’t know where he is?” Winnie felt as if her breath had been stolen.

“Of course not! Do you think I would allow the one boy who could take away my kingdom to galavant about?” His eyes grew fiery.

“But you are a man. A man of the land.” Her brow furrowed.

“Winifred, I really did enjoy our… rendez-vous. You were the most exciting woman I’d met in a while. But, then you mentioned your son, Jonathan. The very idea of how you discovered him… frightened me to say the least. Then, I came back here and found out he had spoken the forbidden words. At that moment I realized that he was Caspian, and I couldn’t keep up the hoax forever.” He smiled regretfully.

“You’re not denying, then, that you know me.” Winnie said shortly.
