The Deal

When I was younger, I thought I made a deal with death. As long as I don’t let life mentor me, he’ll slow the clock. I was a smart kid; I took a glimpse at after the toys expire. So, of course I singed the contract. But there was one catch though; everyone else would age. A little faster than they should, in fact.

Funny how the trinity(three wise guys) always win in the end. I missed my first crush in eighth grade. I was ten; she was seventeen. We danced at our graduation party. Funny how the man upstairs sent me a gift, yet the landlord in the basement wins anyway. She hated my guts; made fun of me every chance, yet was grinding me with enthusiasm when we danced. Of course I went for the younger girl, her friend, with less confidence and of course that floated like a lead balloon. As I made it to high school, I noticed that I couldn’t click with the girls there but me and the fellas always could hang. Guess they don’t like younger guys. When I went to college, I realized that they deal, was not in my favor
