It Was Our Fault (The Backwards Revolution)

It was our fault, really. We let them. We didn’t do anything to stop it. And I believe that, sometimes, doing nothing is worse.

In the begninning, it was for our own good. And when you’re spoonfed lies long enough, they start to sound really pretty. But even in saying that, I feel like I’m making excuses. And there are no excuses.

We were the victims. But it was our fault.

We knew we were past saving when they started editing the history books and changing the clocks. We knew we were past saving when all of the houses had to be painted the same color and we were issued uniforms based on rank.

I’d like to be able to say that we were strong enough to do something about it, but we weren’t.

And so we were led through this backwards revolution like cattle to the slaughter. Only we weren’t losing our heads, we were losing ourselves.

The time for acting has long past, I am afraid to say. We missed our one chance.

It happened. And it was our fault. And now there is no going back.
