Back to the Present (CLFM 37)

The scene before us was chaos. What with a talking cat, the rabbit, and the sentient spider. Not to mention a wife who was cuddling a toaster.

I checked the device on my wrist…

... device on my wrist? Which just happened to tell me what had happened here.

“Les,” I pointed to the toaster. “Unmap the temporal spatial leak, while I hit the Heidleburg quantum warp on the head-

- What did I just say?”

“You said-”

“I know what I just said, dang it. But what does it mean?”

Les grinned. “Things are getting sorted,” he said. “That’s what it means.”

I would have tried to prise more out of him but the rabbit was taking a carving knife to the father’s ear and muttering something about a lucky human ear. The toaster was causing problems too, becoming too protective and possessive over the wife.

Les and I had our work cut out just sorting the mess.

“You know,” the wife said sadly as Les put a sledge hammer to the toaster. “It reminds me of when we’d only been married for 40 days.”
