Just A Little Hard

She stared at me for a second, before nodding. Fine, she wants to take it slow? Screw it. We’ll take it slow. While I wish she could trust me more, after everything that had happened yesterday, I knew she didn’t. I couldn’t really blame her. As I walked her to class, making irrelevant small-talk, I thought about something she’d said yesterday by the stream. Something she hadn’t explained. A story she hadn’t told. A state that ruined all her hopes of a real relationship, even friendship. Colorado. I wondered what exactly had happened there, and why it had affected her so extremely. I didn’t ask. If we were taking it slow, she wouldn’t tell me. Not yet.
I was only slightly worried about the ‘taking it slow’ deal.As long as she didn’t talk to Ulyssa everything would be fine.As long as she didn’t believe her lies.
After chemistry (sadly not a lab day) she insisted on walking to her next class alone. This ‘going slow’ think was going to be a little harder than predicted, as I soon discovered yet again at lunch.
