The Limits of Destria

An arm grabbed me just as I reached the limits of Destria. “Don’t do that!” I growled at Alva. Somehow, he always found me.
“We can move at a bit slower pace. Thank you, Magnolia.” I sniffed and continued walking. There was still something uneasy about him. Of course, anyone would be uneasy if they knew at any given moment they’d have to jump worlds to save their life. And possibly leave the one they love behind.
“Alva?” I didn’t trust my voice. “I – -”
“Not now. The wind will hear.”
“Let it. The locket.” His jaw clenched. “What’s so important about it?” A screeching noise answered me, while Alva turned around and around. “Don’t leave me!” He grabbed me quickly, and then there was darkness.

Someone was crying, and my palms burned like fire. Someone was screaming, a hand flew to my mouth.
It was me screaming, but why?
