A New Beginning

The lingering eyes hadn’t left my presence.
Some wanted to say something to me, but they had chosen to sit and just stare.

It’s like my father had left a forever presence among them.
Once your fellow mate dies it leaves a little part inside of you to look over your shoulders just incase, because you never know when it will be your turn.

I had sometimes wished my father would just speak to me about his job and what was it like, but he had managed to keep it all a secret.
He didn’t very much approve of me moving up to homicide. He never gave me a reason why just a disapproval.

I was assigned to his old office and many others since his departure a year ago.
Garbage laid scattered across the floor, a molding sandwich had just crawled deep inside of a corner leaving you that unforgiving scent inside your nostril. And a steel desk was placed right in the middle of the room with empty file folders across it.

It felt like a new start to something great.
