The boy and the wolf

The little boy quietly came into the house, closed the door, leaned against it and locked it. He stood there with his hands pressed against the door as if to help keep it shut.
His eyes were wide and unblinking. He was watching something he couldn’t see, something about ten feet in front of where he was standing, on the other side of the door across the porch and down the steps.
His father stopped reading, watching the boy, he opened his mouth as though to say something. Instead he tried to casually look out the side-pane window to see if there was or wasn’t something there. The man coudn’t see anything in the last echo’s of daylight. The fairy lights left over from Christmas twinkled in the gloom.
Finally the boy took a breath and a heavy sigh escaped his lips. He turned to his father, looked him in the eyes and pointed to the door.
“There is a wolf out there and he said he wanted to eat me”
“Oh?” Exclaimed his father.
“Yup … so, you want to play Nintendo?”
