On The Road to Nowhere

We ran out of gas ten miles from town. I sighed and looked over to Greg.
“You know, we really should call Lisa-”
“No. No way am I talking to her. I’d never hear the end of it.” I rolled my eyes. How could he be so immature?
“Alright. Fine. I guess I can call Amber…” The look in his eyes was pure hatred. I knew he hated her, but it was still funny to mention her name. He still wasn’t over the fact I had a new girlfriend.
“I think there is a gas station down there somewhere,” he stated, pointing down the road. “That is, if you aren’t too weak and helpless to make it that far.” I opened my mouth to retaliate, but it just wasn’t worth it. As soon as we walked into the convenience store, we were greeted with weary stares and snickering onlookers. I guess they have never seen two guys together before. I ignored their stares and began: “Hey, yeah, uh, our car is over there, so if you can direct us to the next-”
“James? Greg? What are you guys doing here?”
