The Resort

The sun’s rays felt like a warm embrace against their bare skin. The sea waves crashed against the sugar-white beach as they slowly walked and talked. They had walked for about an hour when they reached a resort, so still, but with undertones they could feel.

“Let’s explore!” Mickey exclamed and took off towards what looked like the lobby.

“Wait, something does not feel right, lets go,” Mark emplored. Despite his reservations, he followed his wife closer to the resort.

The windows were dusty and dirty, but they wiped it away so they could peer inside. The furniture was where it should be, and papers were on the desk, but no one could be found. Only silence and the distant “caw” from the sea gull could be heard.

As they explored, everything seemed to be in its place, but too quiet for a resort in the Rivera Maya. Mickey spotted a large white sea shell lying in the sand near where the guest rooms were located. As she picked it up and put it to her ear, everything changed.
