Considering

That surprised me. The considering, I mean. I’d expected him to simply refuse the offer, and tell me never mind. Surly the information was useless to him if he couldn’t go report it? Either he was extremely curious, or he still had strong brotherly affection for me. Or maybe he simply doubted our abilities to keep him here.
Whatever the reason, he was considering.
“One thing bothers me,” he began slowly.
“What?”
He paused, “Why haven’t you asked me how I’ve become this way?”
I frowned, “Because I already know.”Duh.
He stared, incredulous, “You know of the enchantment?”
Enchantment?” I scoffed, “More like curse. Of course I know about it. Do you really think we wouldn’t look into it when a bunch of sadistic murder-loving Warlocks turned up?”
“Oh,” he frowned; apparently they thought the Assassin Curse was still a secret. He took a breath before speaking again, “So, if you tell me how this… converting part but not whole thing works… I must stay. If I but out I can go?”
I paused, then nodded.
