Katrina(3)

She woke up, feeling more rested that she had in over a year. She remembered she had to do something, but… what? Something about the authorities… OH!

She shot into the air and flew into the city, smoothing her scarlet dress to try and make herself look decent. She darted through groups of people, moving towards the police station.

She slipped in behind someone who then walked up to the desk to talk about her son that had gone missing.

“We’ll send out a search party, ma’am,” the officer said. He picked up a phone and said something. Katrina sat on the desk, and when he put the phone down, he looked at her.

“Shouldn’t you be in the forest?”

“I should, sir,” she started timidly, “but I”m being hunted. I was driven from home—”

“Hunted? By whom? We outl—”

“Out lawed it! I know! Look, his name is Matthew Carl Stimen. He lives out just a ways in the woods, and he’s been hunting me for nearly a year.”

“And it just now occured to you to tell us?”

“Yes, sir…” she muttered, feeling dumb.
