October 10, 2000, the Shaking that Scared Me

I was sitting,
To your right,
When it happened.
The first time,
In a while.
I wasn’t thinking about,
Next year,
Of carpools,
Or the next night,
At the hospital.
All I could think of
Was the shaking,
The sirens,
And the flashing lights.
And the fact,
That I, your daughter,
Saw it happen.
I saw my mother,
Have a seizure.
