The tune. What was it, really? I played it over and over, still unable to figure out what it really was. Then the first few notes came to me. I played them beautifully, but that was all. I still wasn’t sure I could live without dreams.
I sat my guitar down, since I had to go to bed, and lay awake, staring at the celing. Why had those notes come to me? I didn’t know. I thought harder, like it was going to help. I fell asleep, a dreamless sleep. Had I already unwittingly given up my dreams?
