Don't Worry About Them

“Who’s side are you on, anyway?” I asked Jamie vehemently. “We’ll be fine. It’s easy.” I pulled out a length of rope from my endless amount pockets.
Jamie shifted uncomfortably on the roof.
“Have you ever climbed through the air ducts?” He pushed his lovely black emo hair from his face.
“Hundreds of times,” I lied. I tied the rope around my waist before winking at him.
He yelled something after me. At first, I thought it was “be careful”, but then I realized he’d said, “Don’t hurt the frogs, Lacey!”

He didn’t have to worry about them.
