Walt lifted his menu higher to hide his face. Clara pulled down on it and began snapping away.
“C’mon, stop trying to hide that cute lil face,” she cooed.
“Clara!” a girl excitedly screamed, walking over to their table.
It was Jen from her chem class.
“Hey, Jen,” Clara greeted.
“Hey, you guys.” In her hand were a pen and notepad. “I’m working here for the summer.” She pulled at her apron. “A job is a job.”
“Right,” Clara smiled. “I’m working over at that ice cream shop on Douglass Ave.”
Jen nodded. “So can I take your orders?”
They gave their orders (the triple deluxe burger for Walt, and a crab salad for Clara).
Walt snatched the camera from Clara and took some of her.
“We need to get some in together,” Clara said. She asked a middle aged couple at the table beside them. “It’s our first date,” she gushed to the woman as she handed over her camera.
“How sweet,” the woman smiled.
Clara scooted her chair closer to Walt’s, who put his arm around her. The woman took two pictures.
“Enjoy your date.”
