Mass Hysteria

“Why now? Why did you come to disturb the hectic peace that we have created for ourselves?” she asked. Terri took two long sips of tea before answering.
“I’ve asked myself that, too. ‘Is this the right thing?’ I ask myself each morning. And every Father’s Day, I look at her, and I tell my myself ‘This is the year that we will show up on your front porch’, and every year, I say ‘Next year.’ But, I can’t put it off any longer. I’m dying, Frances, and you’ll have to take care of her. Just like you’re taking care of Ernie.”
Ernie recognized those words. The exact words from my dreams! He began to shriek, and with in two minutes, evryone, with the exception of his mother, was hysterical.
