Darker side

The doctor frowned and nodded.
“Alright, Nathaniel it is… now-”
He was taken by surprise when the boy whirled around and caught his eyes, punching the bed.
“Look, you don’t get it, do you?”
The doctor’s eyes widened.
Get it?
“I didn’t ask to come here. I didn’t ask to be put on some bull shit drugs to make me feel better about myself, and I sure as hell don’t need some gay psychiatrist telling me I need more so I don’t commit suicide!”

The doctor blinked and nodded.
“Alright. That’s fine. If you don’t want to be here, you’re perfectly welcome to leave. You don’t have to come back, and we’ll both be happy.”
The boy was surprised by the doctor’s response, and brushed the black hair out of his emerald eyes.
“I won’t be…”
The doctor kept unsteady eye contact with Nathaniel, who looked as though he were about to break down.
“Why?”
Nathaniel laughed darkly.
“This is why…”
He rolled up his sleeves to reveal crimson red marks running parallel along his forearm.
