Autumn and Justin: Music and Silence

“Hey, What kind of music do you listen to?” I threw out. An offering of friendship.

“Alternative.” He paused, then switched on the radio.

I’d much rather have some music to fill the empty space than my heartbeat ringing in my ears. With Jeremy laughing in the backseat I hadn’t even realized it was off.

“What about you?” He speaks!

“I like different kinds. I like anything with a beat!”
The radio switched songs. He turned it up.

“This is one of my new favorites.” He shared. His eyes never left the road. I bobbed my head in time to the music. “I don’t know this one,” I confessed.

By the song’s end we had made it to the library. I reached down to grab my bag, and he had raced around the car to get the door for me. Wow
“Thanks.”
He just nodded, but our eyes met, briefly. He looked away, beginning to blush again.
“Let’s go.” I led the way into the building and to the reference section.

At least a library is one place where talking is not required!
