Same stuff different day

6:15. Alarm goes off. Roll over, hit snooze. Close eyes. Baby yells, and so does the alarm. Stumble out of bed. Grab the bottle from kitchen. Feed the baby. Turn off alarm.

Baby’s alseep again. Make my coffee, take a shower, get out the shower, put on my bathrobe and it’s off to the kids room. Wake them, “Good Morning!”. Reluctant, they head for the couch. Direct them to the kitchen. Instruct them to eat breakfast. 4 times. They eat a little so I run to my room to throw on some clothes. I come out, they’re back to not eating. After 20 minutes they are done, dressed and ready to head out of the door.

We hurry for the train. Get to school and up four flights of stairs. Hugs and kisses and “Have a good day sweetie!” echoes as I run down the stairs back to the subway.

To work. Dripping sweat from the summer heat. Running up the stairs to get to my cubicle. Bored. Wishing for more. More out of life. Hours pass, it’s time to leave. Rush home to make dinner and prepare to do it all again the next day.
