Ficlets

==experience==

I woke up when I heard something hit the floor of the bus. The guards were moving to the back seats in a frenzy, and I looked behind me.

Standing up, holding a gun pointed at some of the guards, was a woman I didn’t know.

I wasn’t really scared; startled would be the better word. If I said I was used to this kind of thing, not many people would believe me.

I did recognize the girl sitting next to the woman. She’d gotten on the bus three or four hours earlier. I remembered how she had handcuffs on, how she wouldn’t stop yelling at the guards. She was confused, and I had the unnerving feeling that maybe she was innocent..

The woman with the gun didn’t look that experienced, and the guards would probably get the weapon from her in no time. Obviously, she knew how to hold a gun, but not a lot of people can actually shoot a person under this much pressure.

She pulled the trigger an instant later, and one of the guards crumpled to the floor.

Okay, so maybe she was more experienced than I thought.
