Dazzlement

I strode through the school to my locker, 729.

Alicia came walking down the hall, surrounded, and I glanced at her from the corner of my eye. Alicia broke off from her groupies, waved goodbye, and tossed her silky black hair over her shoulder. Knowing what was coming next, I was suddenly very interested in opening up my locker.

Alicia strolled up next to me, and opened her locker: 728. She said hi to me like it was normal to be chatting. Whatever. I never answered her anyways.

I finally yanked open my locker and my books and papers tumbled out onto the floor. “Crap…” I reached for my stuff.

“Here, let me help you.”

“No, thanks.” I packed everything under one arm. I shoved everything in my locker, and looked up.

Alicia was staring at me carefully. She smiled sadly and rested a hand on my shoulder. I froze, and then pulled away. Her smile stayed. It annoyed me, but dazzled me too. And I had said I wouldn’t be dazzled anymore. Bah.

I jogged away, to English. I realized I had the wrong papers.
