Goodbye Love

“What’d you forget?” Adam asked. Rosie pushed past him.
“I’ll be right out, okay? I just left some of my sweaters and things here.” She ran to the closet. Adam picked something up from the couch, and raised one eyebrow.
“And stuff.” He repeated as he held up her underwear.
“I told you, it was me, not you, remember?” Rosie sounded rushed.
“Of course. It was quote ‘The unfortunate circumstances of two… vulnerable mortals’, was it?”
“Exactly. Where’d you put my translated copy of Beowulf?”
Adam closed his eyes.
“You threw it at me.” His fingers grazed the stitched-up wound on his collarbone.
“And where did you put it after that?” Rosie’s hands were on her hips.
“I didn’t put it anywhere! It was practically lodged in my freakin’ throat! It took them nine pain-staking hours to remove it!” He shoved her out the door. “Goodbye, love.”
