I wrote “I love you” on the beach, just to see the response.

Amidst the sand castles and the “so-and-so was here”s, No one paid attention to my words.

Look at that kid! They’d exclaim, and pay no attention to my words.

Let’s have ice cream, now! Kids begged, and paid no attention to my words.

Then, the tide came in, and all the castles were gone, and the meaningless messages were gone. But, my words were still there.

Alas! There was no one left to read them.
