The Dock

Ever since Mary was a little girl, her father would take her out to the lake. It was there they would go out on the boat with the family and spend all day in each other’s company.
Afterwards, Mary and her father would sit on the dock and talk about anything and everything. They had a close bond that some girls missed out on. She was somewhat of a tomboy and never minded doing some of the things the boys her age were doing.

As she got older, the lake visits got few and far between. It’s not that she didn’t want to go but her life was so full of school and social events it seemed that the lake days never found a spot in her or her dad’s schedule.

But it was there she escaped to the days after the one boy she was sure she would always love called off the wedding. Her father was the one who held her as she cried and took her out on the boat with the family who loved her.

Years later, her children accompained her and her father on that dock to make the memories that Mary would never forget.
