Lost Sock

“Hurry up!” came an impatient call from downstairs.

The girl was madly racing about the room, looking right and left.”I’ve just lost my sock,” she shouted back.

“Didn’t you pack socks? We’re going for two weeks!”

“Oh, of course. I packed lots of socks. But I need this one.”

There came a disgruntled sigh from downstairs, and the girl’s father called again.

“You have plenty of others. We’ll find it when we get back!”

The girl let out a sigh, glaring at the single sock as if it was it’s fault that it’s partner was lost.

Then she grabbed her packed bag, heading out to where the rest of the family waited in the car.

Half way between the front door and the car lay a sock. The girl let out a triumphant cry, snatched it up, then ran back inside to get the other.

Five minutes later her father walked inside.

“Did you get the sock?” he called.

“Oh, yes, I’m looking for my scarf now.”

It’s summer! We’re going to the beach!

“Oh, I know Daddy. I just need this scarf.”
