Let's Go Get the Vronel

“I think they’re bored.” Kayla said. “That would explain why they wanted people. Constructs. Whatever. Right?” Kayla looked uncomfortable and sort of distant.

“And the things they made me do while I was on board. It wasn’t unpleasant, necessarily. I’m not sure, weird.” She shivered as if remembering something particularly disgusting. “The experience had a certain… novelty, I guess. The kind of freaky stuff I’d imagine you’d get into if you were stuck in deep space a million years from now.”

“Well I don’t like the sound of that.” I said. “We can just let them go if you feel uncomfortable dealing with them any more.” I hesitated, taking note of the seriousness in her eyes. “Whatever we do, I’m not letting you out of my sight with them around.”

“No, K. I can see the dollar signs on your face. Let’s follow them and see what happens. I’m ok with it as long as you cut me in on the profits.”

I gave her a sideways look, raising an eyebrow. “Are you sure?”

“Yes.” she said. “Let’s see what they’re worth.”
