{A Rose & Violet Poem} Red on the Rose, part 1

Caterpillar watching eagle’s flight,
so I saw wishes reflected
in you. I came to flight
as you taught about love,
wrapped in silken weavings.

As rivers flow, you became
the Tigris; I the Euphrates,
flowing so near, able to hear
as you glided over rocks,
smoothed the sides of stones,
never the winds controlled you,
always your rippling chatter
comforted my heart.

The first star of the night,
your spark ignited twinkles.
So grew my colors;
like a violet in a dandelion patch.
You flourished like a red rose
in full bloom. Sun rising
after darkened hours, you
surrounded my heart
like a warm breeze
in a cold winter. Fantasy
fulfilled, finally lived.
Life was a cloud
with too much glitter.

Your lips on mine,
flames bursting forth.
Fireworks exploding,
rockets bursting,
thunder rolling,
I held you close,
then closer still,
skin nakedly screaming
emotions I can’t name.
Heart beating like a rabbit
trying to outrun a lion,
each new expression
of my feelings for you.
