The Search

The bright cafe lights made him wince. He enjoyed darker spots, now. It had been years since his last encounter with truly glaring lights, and He didn’t want to relive it.

“Hey, so, who are you again?” the girl sitting at the table asked, staring at the olive-skinned, possibly early-twenties man in front of her.

“I never told you my name,” He responded stiffly, taking a sip of coffee.

“Oh, right.” She fingered her backpack nervously.

“So, where did you see him?”

“Um, last night, in a graveyard by Central Park.”

He thought. A graveyard? He wondered why…

“Thanks,” He said, sounding heartfelt this time. He tossed her a few dollars and walked out into the dark rain. He grinned with true pleasure. Rain…darkness…it was comforting.

Now, He needed to go to Central Park.
