“RITCHIE!” Ritchie felt himself being smothered in a hug from his former girlfriend Katie. Come to think of it, he wasn’t sure if they were still on. Deep down, he hoped they were. He had over reacted that day on the bus with her, there was no way she could have known what had happened and she got spurned for her concern.
“I’m sorry about what i said, Katie.” he told her. “I was wrong and I hope you can forgive me.” He looked pleadingly into her eyes. She smiled warmly and kissed him.
“It’s ok, Ritchie, you were hurting. I understand.” Ritchie’s eyes lit up and he pulled her close.
“Thank you,” he whispered into her hair. He walked over to his dad, holding Katie’s hand.
“Listen, Ritchie, i’m so sorry for not coming sooner-”
“It’s all right.”
“I tried to come but the courts said i should let you settle in first, but now we have much to talk about and i needed desperately to get in touch with you.”
“What is it?”
“Maybe you should sit down,” his father suggested.
