The Morning After

Sunshine flooded into the room with the dawn of a new day, beating across his eyelids like rays of fire. Slowly and painfully, he awoke. A cursory glance at his alarm clock suggested to him that he should roll over and return to his world of innocent slumber, but something was there.

As he re-entered the land of the living that foul, rancid taste reminded him of his latest wild drink and drug-fuelled night. But something else was there. Something deep; something sinister. Like a bullet through his brain, he was hit by the dark realisation of what he had done. He knew it was wrong, but it felt so, so good.
