The Dove of Steel (31)

Judge Sulkoske gave a hearty laugh, but it was more of the one that would be used for a bluff than actual humor. He looked Isaac again in the eyes, and said,

“And why would stowaways care to be on an Arcadian airship? After all, we are known for our relentless following and enacting of The Eleven Laws, which could mean that if you were found, you would face certain death.”

Isaac gave off one of his scoffing laughs and said,

“Well, I guess we thought we wouldn’t get caught.”

The Judge’s eyes scanned up and down Isaac and he merely said,

“While I don’t believe you, I think you might be in for a spot of luck.”

Isaac continued with his stoicism, and just stared at him. Linda on the other hand, seemed panicked, and quickly replied in a tone that held the desperation of the dead,

“And what would that be your honor?!”

Judge Sulkoske laughed and said,

“Well now, someone’s eager. I think it might be best to check with your compatriot before you make life altering decisions.”

Linda glared at Isaac.
