The Dove of Steel (32)

Isaac sighed as Linda’s unnerving glare rested on him for a few seconds. Finally, he spoke in a voice that raged with fury bound by rusted shackles of self-control,

“Fine, ‘Your Honor’, we’ll help you.”

Linda gave an all too obvious sigh of relief, to which Judge Sulkoske responded,

“Well, that’s more of what I like to hear. Your task is a simple one. My job is to understand the situation that has caused Timerium’s borders to close so tightly, and should it violate The Eleven Laws, eliminate it.”

Isaac quickly became suspicious, and said,

“Then why not send unmarked spies, instead of a Judge? And the airship is not exactly a way to mask your approach.”

Judge Sulkoske looked at Isaac with a look of slight admiration, as if looking at a slightly tall wall. He then replied in his voice that sounded as if he always knew better,

“We did, and they didn’t return. As for the airship, it is only a means to the border, nothing more.”
