Field of Dreams

I can do this. I can do this. Reassuring myself, I take my first steps down the path. A fear licks my mind as I stumble back.

What if I don’t like whats down there?

No. Its the only path left, and I have to find out what happened. I have to figure out why I asked that question. I have to know. Something tells me this isn’t the real world. Something tells me I have to get out of here.

Head strong and ignoring the fears inside, I’m led to a dead end. Two trees are marked with arrows, each pointing at one another.

“Into the woods I guess.”

Even though night has come, my pursuit is undeterred. Even though the trees scrape and claw me, roots trip and fall me, and creatures growl and scare me, I continue on.

Eventually the woods clear out, leaving me standing before a large open field. In the center of the field lay the charred remains of a car. No doors, no windows, just the steel chassis of the car.

“Oww.” My head hurts. My eyes burn. My stomach screams. Oh god. It hurts.

...

“Turn down the radio baby.”
